Our basic personality decides on the direction one would want to go. We do see many persons ,shift their attention from Mythology to mere reading of higher literature. The earlier ritualistic part has been taken over by the more knowledgeable, introspective self. 

Similarly there occurs a shift in thought processes , from a practitioner to a seeker of knowledge.

However the childhood concepts of right vs wrong, fear and punishment , all of which change over a period of time. Good essentially remains good , rules are better understood , reasoning develops and so does better expression.

We also understand our own very basic needs , keep a check on our ego and a stage of maturity dawns when individuals know about superego.

At the superego stage they have totally become non prejudicial and non discriminative. Their interest now dwells , only on humanity principles and are good communicators with any group of persons without any racial discrimination.

The intellect sharpened , they are righteous,  courteous and forthright in all their thinking and action. We therefore see the turbulent teens when all is aggressively questioned upon. We also see the youth that aspires to reach great heights, we see the mellowing of parenthood and fifty’s and later we also see the retirement sixties and so forth. We therefore witness a great change from one phase to the other, from paediatrics to geriatrics. 

An individual will never remain childish all through his or her life, an individual will never be aggressively competent and competitive through out his or her life. 

We do transcend into the phases of good, better and the best. However ,if we were to focus on fruit of our transformation to goodness, then the goals are difficult to achieve. Faith takes us into higher and newer realms.
